Monika's Magic Shoe Idea

This is my friend, Monika, and this post is dedicated to her!

She is beautiful on the inside and out, and super crafty, thrifty and creative with everything she does in her life - from organizing her closet to making homemade baby food, to crafting up handmade hair pieces for her and her little girl.

So when she showed me a pair of flats that she keeps on hand with interchangeable bows and flowers (that she made herself!) I just had to blog about this incredible idea.

It all starts with a pair of flats - preferably in black or camel patten leather - from your favorite store.  I picked these up for $12.95 from H&M in New York this weekend.

As you can tell, we cut off the small bow on the top front of the shoe for a blank surface to work on.  Monika keeps tons of Velcro on hand in her craft drawer.

Apply the less abrasive side of the Velcro to the top front of the shoe.  The adhesive on the Velcro isn't strong enough, so use a hot glue gun to reinforce the Velcro and ensure it really stays on there.

Then the fun begins!  Fasten the more abrasive end of the Velcro to your favorite flowers, bows or adornments using the hot glue gun.

Match up the Velcro pieces from the bow to the shoe and WALLAH - you have a new pair of shoes with every outfit!

As you can see, this is not a new concept to Monika,  She has lots of hand made bows and flowers in her collection already fixed with Velcro and ready to go!

Thank you for sharing your idea with me, Monika!  I hope that if you are reading this post you might give this idea a try too!
